The political world was stunned and bewildered Monday when Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren released the results of a DNA test that she took under pressure from President Trump and Republicans to prove her Indian heritage.

The release of the results seem to have created more problems than it solved for Warren. Warren released her heritage results showing that she may have between 1/64 and 1/1,024 Native American DNA. That means Warren may have statistically less Indian DNA than the average white American.

The Cherokee Nation issued a blistering statement calling Warrens decision“wrong,” saying it “makes a mockery out of DNA tests and its legitimate uses while also dishonoring legitimate tribal governments and their citizens.”
