Boris Johnson confronted by father of sick child over destroyed NHS
Boris Johnson was confronted Wednesday by the angry father of a sick child during a hospital visit, who told him that “the NHS has been destroyed … and now you come here for a press opportunity.”
The clearly rattled British prime minister then, oddly considering the event was being covered by much of the British media, said: “Well actually theres no press here.” His accuser then gestured to the reporters and cameras and said: “What do you mean theres no press here, who are these people?”
The angry father was Omar Salem, a Labour activist campaigning against Brexit, who took to Twitter to say that he gave Johnson “a piece of my mind about how he is running the NHS based on the experience with my 7 day old daughter, who was neglected for hours last night.”
He said the team in the accident and emergency department at Whipps Cross University Hospital in London “were great but she then went for hours on the ward without seeing a doctor.”
